End this inconvenience

For the past two years we have been subjected to new rules that govern our daily life almost all over the world. All in the name of health safety due to new Coronavirus Covid-19. But, is it really the solution? Do we need to be subjected to check ins everytime, everywhere we go in Malaysia. What is the true purpose of this exercise/regulations? That includes the nose mask. Do we need to pray in a ‘physical distance’ format now that the cases (especially Cat 3,4,5) have been reported to reduce a lot? It is time for change. It is high time that the regulators put some sense in things we do.

Beginning 11 October 2021, we have been unlocked by the government, allowing us to rentas negeri (cross states border) for tourism, balik kampong to visit our loved ones who many have not been able to see for 2 years and other things we have not been able to do. However, the SOPs for check in MySejahtera is still compulsory, and adding now the mandate for fully vaccinated and after 14 days for some vaccines such as AZ which I took.

So, dining into a restaurant one must check in, going to mosque also must check in, malls, hotels, pasar, and all. But, I don’t see the logic. For example, I go to Suboh at 5.45 am (at the same mosque practically day in day out) and check in MyS with say normal temperature, and then go to pasar check in again, temperature fluctuates to 36.6 say, then Zuhur I go to masjid and chk in MyS again temperature sama juga. Then at 4.20 pm go to Masjid for Asar and same ritual, and finally Maghrib at 7.00 pm, same ritual check in, temp check, and off course with face mask and the sejadah. Mind you, it is the same masjid that I go behind my house, and many more out there are also in same boat as me. In the congregational prayers , we are not joined up like the pre-covid days, we are now 1 or 1.5 metre separated since Covid was invented. For past 2 months, since mosque started to allow Jemaah prayers, I have been following this new norm SOP, which I see no benefit at all. Just wasting people’s time, resources. Alhamdulillah, I don’t have any of these covid things. I see everyone, following, religiously, with the AJK at the masjid becoming security guards ensuring all follow the SOP.

Why can’t the authorities do some experiments and start allowing the masjids and also other premises to follow the normal way of life. Muslims pray based on our true teachings of standing close together. In fact Saudi Arabia has already moved to our way of life, the Islamic way of life. I think we are overdoing things, and I think we need to move on…. To move on as quick as possible. Things are getting more and more ridiculous as days past by. And 2021 is almost ending, and we want a better 2022 ahead. Let’s live with covid, as how we have lived with dengue, malaria, SARS, HIV, and all that WHO have named them.
