Questionnaire for Researchers

Designing questionnaire for survey, interviews or focus groups discussions

There are many kinds of questionnaire that can be used to collect data depending on the purpose, objective, research questions, context, and intended outcomes of a particular research.  Different objectives, respondents, target sampling or unit of analysis will also require the creation of different set of questions which must be meaningful for the study.  Only the researcher will be able to correctly determine the line of thoughts, the flow of questions and the kind of statistical or qualitative analysis that comes with the questions in the questionnaire. Therefore, two critical issues that must be addressed in all survey questionnaire. The first is the data to be collected from the responses in answering those questions. Questions must be relevant, suitable, and meaningful and make sense.  Secondly, the types of analysis, mathematical, statistical, or qualitative, that is planned to be conducted from the answers given by the respondents (or the data provider) must be clearly understood. If you want to test differences between different groups or even between different demographics, then you must have some statistical tests to measure this such as conducting a two way t-test or doing an ANOVA.  Analysis is not the main purpose of this topic here.

The following pages will provide with some examples of questionnaires previously used in other research that the writer has collected and compiled.  They can be used as good starting point for developing your own set of questionnaires that meets your research aim and objectives.
